Gallery View Defective

I just discovered that the gallery pictures don’t link to their big versions anymore when clicked, only the thumbnails open in in the lightbox view. This is because in the gallery plugin I use, this feature got removed from the free version. That’s a very shady move in my opinion, since this makes the entire plugin unsable in the free version. Furthermore, this change isn’t mentioned in their changelogs.

I am very sorry for this. Sadly it is a lot of work to rebuild all the galleries with another plugin, for which I do not have the time right now. I hope I can fix it some time this year, but no promises.

At the moment I am working on new content for my other site https://www.retrohardware-reviews.de, which will also still take a lot of time. But be assured it will be extremely interesting for all retro-graphics-cards-fans <3

Two Announcements

I got two announcements to make 🙂

First of all (to set some pressure on myself), I have a new (second) website in the making. Compared to this site, it will be times X larger and not limited to a single topic like this site is, but on old PC hardware of any kind. Right now, I am writing a lot of content for one big project that I want to have ready for the launch, which consists of several (extensive) reviews and a lot of benchmarks comparing the reviewed components. The site itself is about 80-90% final from a layout & function point of view and I am done with around 50-60% of the launch content I think. I work hard (in all the time I can spend on this) to make it happen this year, but I can’t promise anything. Stay tuned and bookmark my new site: https://www.retrohardware-reviews.de!

The second thing I want to mention, is that I have a Ko-Fi set up now. So if you want to support what I am doing, you can hit that “Buy me a coffee” button on the left. Any help is appreciated, I promise every cent goes into hardware and helps creating content (for the new site). Thanks in advance to your support 🙂

Site errors, continued

Today I discovered, that wordpress automatically overwrites changes that I made to my .htaccess file. I don’t know since when this happens, but I assume since the last WordPress Update. Whenever I replace the file with my working backup, it gets overwritten within 2 minutes. I think, I now have a working way to prevent wordpress from doing so, the fix can be found here (for anyone who is interested): https://perishablepress.com/stop-wordpress-changing-htaccess/

I hope the site will now work as intended, sorry again for this!

Site errors fixed

Hey guys, today I discovered that all pages except for the landing page showed a nasty “500 internal server error”. This is because I have customizations which get overwritten during wordpress updates and need to be redone after every update. I’m sorry that I didn’t notice this earlier, but now the site is up and running again 🙂

If this happens again, feel free to send me a mail to webmaster *at* 3dfx-banshee.de, then I will fix this issue as soon as possible.

I will also add a new Banshee very soon to the site, so stay tuned!
